Uses:

Used in the treatment of chronic hyperuricemia in people with gout.
User object:

Patients over 18 years old with increased uric acid, gout
Usage and dosage:

Take the medicine with a meal.

The recommended starting dose of febuxostat for the control of uric acid in patients with gout is 40 mg once daily.

The dose of febuxostat may be increased to 80 mg once daily in patients who have not achieved serum urate levels below 6 mg/dL after 2 weeks of treatment with febuxostat at a dose of 40 mg once daily. An increase in dose to 120 mg once daily may be considered if serum uric acid level > 6 mg/dL after 2-4 weeks of treatment.

It is recommended to use the drug for at least 6 months to prevent recurrent gout attacks.

No dose adjustment is required in patients with mild to moderate renal impairment or mild hepatic impairment.
Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to any ingredient of the drug

Febuxostat is contraindicated in patients treated with azathioprine or mercaptopurine.
Side effects:
-
Nausea, joint pain, rash, chest tightness, trouble breathing, slurred or difficult speech, dizziness or fainting, weakness or numbness of the arms/legs. Febuxostat can increase liver enzymes, causing liver damage. Febuxostat may cause other side effects.
