Ingredient:

• Febuxostat 80mg

Uses:

• Used in the treatment of chronic hyperuricemia in people with gout.

User object:

• Patients over 18 years old with increased uric acid, gout

Usage and dosage:

• Take the medicine with a meal.

• The recommended starting dose of febuxostat for the control of uric acid in patients with gout is 40 mg once daily.

• The dose of febuxostat may be increased to 80 mg once daily in patients who have not achieved serum urate levels below 6 mg/dL after 2 weeks of treatment with febuxostat at a dose of 40 mg once daily. An increase in dose to 120 mg once daily may be considered if serum uric acid level > 6 mg/dL after 2-4 weeks of treatment.

• It is recommended to use the drug for at least 6 months to prevent recurrent gout attacks.

• No dose adjustment is required in patients with mild to moderate renal impairment or mild hepatic impairment.

Contraindications:

• Hypersensitivity to any ingredient of the drug

• Febuxostat is contraindicated in patients treated with azathioprine or mercaptopurine.

Side effects:

• Nausea, joint pain, rash, chest tightness, trouble breathing, slurred or difficult speech, dizziness or fainting, weakness or numbness of the arms/legs. Febuxostat can increase liver enzymes, causing liver damage. Febuxostat may cause other side effects.
